The Command Automotive Story
Recognizing the need for cost-efficient, durable and safer brake rotors for the worldwide law enforcement market, Command Automotive, Inc. opened its doors for business in April of 2001 committed to produce such a product. Our founders, having had experience with cryogenic processing of metals, and a substantial background in metallurgy, realized that cryogenic processing of brake rotors could have a positive effect in achieving these goals. Other companies were already trying to produce such a product but with mixed results. It was evident that the material makeup of brake rotors (OEM Spec) and the product that was available for processing was unsuitable for consistent results.
After much research and development, coupled with an aggressive testing program, CAI realized that cryogenic processing alone was not the key for an acceptable product. We discovered that complete control of all aspects of the manufacturing process was essential for consistency in product performance.
With this knowledge in hand, Command Automotive, Inc. began manufacturing cryogenic brake rotors. The end result of CAI’s efforts is the SD-1 Brake Rotor: a rotor that will meet, and most times, exceed the advertised increase in life of 400%, a rotor that will increase brake pad life by 200% or more, a rotor that will not warp and is extremely brake-fade resistant. In fact, the SD-1 is guaranteed against warping for the life of the product, something unheard of in the law enforcement market, plus no law enforcement agency that has tested or uses the SD-1 has been able to produce brake fade no matter how hard they tried.
Command Automotive, Inc. currently serves over 400 local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies across the United States and Canada.
